FAQ

What is parodontosis?

It is a branch of stomatology that diagnoses and treats those illnesses that affect the tissues that maintain the teeth inside the arch (gums, periodontal ligament, alveolar bone and teeth)

What is parodontosis?

Parodontosis has three stages: gingivitis, superficial periodontitis and profound periodontitis. In the first stage there is gum inflammations that lead to swelling and haemorrhage from the gums. Left untreated is can lead periodontitis that affects profound structure and can even lead to teeth loss, dental retraction, root exposure. This illness is caused by various factors: genetics, psychological, precarious oral hygiene, unhealthy lifestyle.

How do we treat parodontosis?

The treatment is a very complex one, it depends on how advanced the illness is and can be cured completely or just kept under control.

The first step is the initial consultation that includes tests, X-rays, CTs. If there is a gingivitis, the treatment is a dental hygienic process (completely removing the plaque and mouth washing to annihilate the bacteria in the gums). In some cased a non-invasive treatment with micro-surgery devices that aim to eliminate the gums inflammation.

This stage is done under anaesthetics. In the more advance stages of the illness, there is a need for real surgery to remove the infection in the bone and gums through addition of bone or gingival replacements.

What is gingival retraction?

It is an illness that affects the gums through retraction or destruction around a tooth until the root is visible. The causes are: precarious oral hygiene, aggressive interdental brushing, periodontal disease, genetics or piercing. It can be associated with cold, warm of sweet sensitivity.

Is gum retraction treatable?

Of course there are treatment techniques like adjusting the gums and covering that part though surgery.
